Awesome Twosome Take Regional Championship Titles

Christina RamonThe Level 7 & 8 Flairs Regional Qualifiers traveled to Kissimmee, Florida the weekend of March 20-22 to represent Louisiana and attempt to capture a Regional Championship Title.

Level 7, Abby Allain won the "Fruge Award" at the Louisiana State Championships given to the optional athlete with the highest score.  Allain followed this honor by hitting four more events at Regionals and scoring a 38.625 for the All-Around Championship Title.  She also took gold on beam with a 9.675, 4th on Vault, 2nd on Bars, 3rd on Floor.Abby Allain

Allain was joined by her teammate Regan Kuhn in winning the bronze medal for Louisiana.  Kuhn placed 4th on Vault, 10th on Bars and Beam and 11th All-Around.

Level 8, Christina Ramon was going for her fourth straight championship title and rose to the occasion winning the vault championship with a 9.70.  Ramon also took 8th on bars, 6th on Floor and 9th All-Around.

Her Level 8 teammate, Olivia Gunter hit "four for four" placing 4th on Vault, 5th on Beam, 9th on Floor and 6th All-Around.  Shea Monteleone captured 8th on Beam and 9th on Floor while Alex Wandler was 9th on Bars and 4th on Beam.


Gauthier Qualifies to Nationals

Level 10, Michelle Gauthier, performed her top meet of the season to earn a spot on the Region 8 team competing at Nationals.  The Regional Championships were held at the Manatee Civic Center in Bradenton, Florida the weekend on April 13.  Gauthier started on vault with a 9.75 full twisting yurchenko for a silver medal finish.  She hit her bar routine for a 9.10  and followed on beam nailing her flip flop, lay, switch to gainer lay and split full for a 9.45 second place finish. On floor, Gauthier mounted with a double pike, followed with a whip, one and a half, punch front and ended with a double tuck.  This earned her a 9.55 for another silver.  She finished second in the all-around with a 37.85.

Gauthier will travel to the weekend of May 18 - 22 at the Wall 2 Wall Sports Complex in Mason, Ohio to attempt help the Region 8 team place in the National Championships.


Club of the Year!!

North Shore Flairs Head to Regionals!


Eight optional level Flairs earned the opportunity to compete at their Regional Championships.

Level 10, Michelle Gauthier and Level 9, Kaylee Annello travel to Brandenton, Florida the weekend of April 12-15 and attempt to earn a trip to Nationals with a top seven finish among the other top qualifiers from Region 8.  Should they achieve this goal, they will become members of the Region 8 team at Nationals.

Level 8s, Olivia Gunter, Shea Monteleone, Christina Ramon and Alex Wandler will compete on Louisiana's team the week of April 19-22 in Kissimme Florida.  Their teammates, Abby Allain and Regan Kuhn will represent Louisiana on the Level 7 team on the same weekend.

Gauthier, Wandler and Ramon have won previous Regional Championship titles as they advanced to higher levels and hope to keep the trend going.  The new competitors to Regionals would like to follow in their footsteps.

Abby Allain Wins Coveted Fruge Award

Level 7 Flair, Abby Allain, hit four for four and captured the coveted Fruge Award which is a scholarship program that helps pay expenses for Regional competitors.  This award is given to the top scoring gymnast at State Championships.  Allain accomplished this in style scoring a huge 39.05 all-around score.  This places her as one of the top Level 7 gymnasts in the country.

Allain will compete for Louisiana in the 2012 Region 8 Regional Championships the weekend of April 19-22 in Kissimmee, Florida.
