Charlene came to North Shore
Gymnastics in March 2000 from Shanghai,
in the People's Republic of China, where she had coached for eight years. She
was awarded the "Coaching Certificate of Honor" by the Chinese Sports Committee
for her role in producing a number of
championship athletes. Charlene graduated
from the Shanghai Institute of Physical Education in Gymnastics, and is a
former member of the PRC Women's National Team. She received the "Master
Sportswoman of the PRC" award in 1986, and was awarded first prize during the
Chinese National Championships for performing a new move on uneven
bars.
Since
arriving in the United States, she has coached
gymnasts from North Shore who have become
members of the United States National Team and
earned the right to attend the Olympic Training
Center in Colorado three times. Charlene's
specialty is beam but she also coaches floor and
bars.
