From our Toddler Gym all the way to our Level 10 Girls Competitive Team and Boys Team, there are programs here for every aspiring gymnast.      TEAM NEWS

North Shore Flairs Return Victorious From Regionals

Level 7 & 8 Regional Championships were held the weekend of April 8 - 10, 2011 in Marietta, GA.  These championships are comprised of approximately the top 10 % of all Level 7 & 8 gymnasts in Region 8 which is made up of Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, Tennesse, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina.  The competitors had to finish in the top percentile of their state at each individual State Championship.  North Shore qualified eight athletes and then proceeded to win six Regional Championship Titles.

Samantha Peterson started the Flairs off by hitting four for four and capturing the Level 7 All-Around Regional Championship Title in the Senior Division.  She also took gold on beam with a 9.75 and floor with a 9.50.  Her teammate, Emily DuRapau also hit, earning third in the all-around, a silver medal on beam with a 9.65 and bronze on floor with a 9.35.  Both girls tied on vault for 9th and on bars for 8th.

Also placing in the team competition was Laura Barrios who took 7th on beam and 10th on floor.  Olivia Gunter captured the silver medal on floor and bronze on vault while Brooke Cawthon took 2nd on floor with a 9.55, 8th on beam and 10th all-around. 

In the Level 8 team competition, North Shore's athletes led the Louisiana' team with eight hit routines.  Alex Wandler captured silver in the all-around with a 38.275, a mere .125 out of first.  She won the Regional Championship titles on bars with a 9.675 and beam with a 9.70.  Wandler also placed 6th on vault and 8th on floor.  Christina Ramon scored a 37.575 for 5th, placed 4th on floor and 7th on beam and was Regional Champion on vault with a 9.725.

Rachel Prescott Captures Regional Floor Championship

The Prep Optional All Stars team competed in the team session of the Regional Championships held in Palmetto, Florida the weekend of April 27-May 1. These gymnasts competed against the top six gymnasts from each of the eight states in Region 8 (all age divisions combined).  An exceptional floor routine  by Rachel Prescott in the Silver Division earned her the Regional Championship with a 9.475.  Prescott also took bronze on vault, fourth on beam and sixth on bars.  She finished with a silver medal in the all-around, less than .2 out of first.  Mollie Probst competed in this division and finished 6th on bars.  Olivia Roper took bronze on bars with an outstanding 9.60.  In the Gold division, Therese Ross also won bronze on bars with a 9.40  and Victoria Roux was 8th on bars.  Jordan Blanda took 7th on vault.  In the Platinum Division, Alexandra Eschete placed 6th on beam, Rebecca Oppenheim placed 7th on vault and Madelyn Toups finished 5th on beam.

North Shore Flairs Capture National Title!! 

More than 770 young women from 34 states competed at the 2011 USA Gymnastics Open Championships, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla. the  weekend of June 3-6, 2011

The four-day event is a nationwide invitational for women's gymnastics Levels 4-8 and rhythmic gymnastics Levels 4-6, where both individual and club team champions were named along with an overall 2011 Club Team Champion for both women and rhythmic. The USA Gymnastics Open Championships is part of the inaugural ESPN RISE Girls Showcase.

Club teams were comprised of a minimum of three gymnasts per club. The top three club team champions were awarded in each session. Team scores were determined by adding the top three scores in each event. The top three overall club team champions were named. Congratulations to the overall club team champion for artistic women- the North Shore Flairs. Ocean Tumblers in Virginia captured second and Edgewater Gymnastics in Florida took third. North Shore  won three session team titles plus 15 athletes won medals including all-around – 6 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze; individual events – 17 gold, 12 silver and 8 bronze.
